This is a typical politicians fix (a quick solution without bothering about the long term). Gas can be used far more efficiently by using it directly to heat homes. By squandering it for electrical generation the useful life of the domestic gas supply infrastructure will be reduced and how will we heat homes once its gone (electically I suppose, but where will that come from once the gas has gone)?

Engineers must know wind farms do not make economic
sense.
The Engineer's editor needs to decide whether he speaks for engineers or has he been blinded
by green light.
