Polyfoam aquisition

3M has acquired Polyfoam Products, a structural adhesives company that manufactures foam adhesives for tile roofing and other adhesive products for the building industry.

Polyfoam’s patented tile roofing system provides an alternative to mechanical fastening, keeping tile roofs safe and intact, especially during hurricane-force winds.

The polyurethane adhesive locks tiles in place and eliminates the need for nails or screws to fasten tiles to the roof, which can leave thousands of tiny puncture holes. In addition, Polyfoam provides canisters and spray guns for installers in the field.

Patrick Deconinck, vice-president and general manager at 3M's industrial adhesives and tapes division, said: 'The addition of Polyfoam’s polyurethane foam formulations and polyurethane dispensing equipment will broaden 3M’s industrial adhesives portfolio and enhance our presence in the industrial and building and construction markets.'

Polyfoam Products employs approximately 35 people and is based near Houston in Tomball, Texas, with a sales and training office in Coral Springs, Florida.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
