Bombardier Transportation has announced that it has won a contract worth €94m (£76m) to supply 30 Flexity Swift high-floor light-rail vehicles to Turkey’s Bursa Metropolitan Municipality.

The order, which contains an option for up to 28 additional vehicles, includes the delivery of spare parts.

Bombardier says the vehicles and bogies will be made at facilities in Bautzen and Siegen, Germany. Similarly, electrical equipment will be supplied by Bombardier’s Mannheim plant in Germany.

The vehicles will be put in service on the existing light-rail system in Bursa as well as on a new extension.

Delivery is expected to commence during the second half of 2010.

‘The new order for Bursa continues the success of the Flexity Swift family, with a total of 813 vehicles ordered so far,’ said Grego Peters, president of Bombardier Transportation’s Business Unit Light Rail Vehicles.
