Up to now, those involved in device integration have had a tough time deciding whether to use EDDL (Electronic Device Description Language) or FDT (Field Device Tool). A lot has been written about the two technologies here and in other sources.
The underlying technology however should not be an obstacle to device integration. Thankfully, these times are finally over now that Endress+Hauser has implemented a solution where EDDL can be smoothly integrated into its FDT-based frame application, FiledCare. iDTMTM simply ‘interprets’ the DD or EDD of a field device so that the device can be used in Endress+Hauser’s Plant Asset Management System without the need for dedicated device DTMs.
iDTMTM will support all HART devices registered with the HART Communication Foundation (HCF) today with FOUNDATION Fieldbus and PROFIBUS protocols to follow 2008+.
