Job Description

MathCAD Engineer – West Midlands – to £35k plus overtime

Our client is renowned globally as the market leader in materials handling allied to the hazardous materials sector, providing bespoke solutions from concept design through to manufacture and simulated operation prior to delivery, installation and commissioning within customers' facilities worldwide. As a result of continued success and a planned programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced MathCAD Engineer to concentrate on all aspects of Structural and Mechanical calculations as part of a successful and committed team.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to carry out defined calculations to determine the acceptability of a structural or mechanical component to a specified code/standard, and to decide personally what calculations are required in order to demonstrate acceptability and able to define all options which have a bearing on the acceptability of the design calculations.

You will be able to carry out work without supervision and to present calculations and results in a manner suitable for auditing and approval. Applicants will normally have a qualification relevant to their competence, formal training and currently have at least 5 years continuous experience, with significant involvement in the substantiation of high integrity safety related lifting equipment anticipated and therefore a thorough working knowledge of BS2573 is required, in addition to the Structural calculations which will require sufficient working knowledge of BS5950. All calculations are to be prepared electronically thus a good working knowledge of MathCAD 2000 Pro is required.
