Crane Control Systems Design Engineer – to £28k + benefits - Northampton

Our client is renowned as a market leader in the supply of bespoke materials handling solutions for a diverse range of applications, and as a result of continued success and a planned program of strategic growth, the company are now seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, dynamic and self motivated Crane Control Systems Design and Commissioning Engineer to compliment their existing team.

To be considered for this challenging and diverse opportunity, successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to design, plan and develop control systems for the company range of projects, and produce accurate and complete specifications, cost forecasts and time plans for each assigned project, and to ensure smooth project delivery on schedule, to specification and within budget.

Additionally, you will be responsible for the preparation and presentation of engineering information that facilitates the purchase, manufacture and assembly of company control systems, and in the development, test and commission of PLC control software following projects through from concept through to on site customer handover.

With project values of up to £1m and timescales of between 6 to 12 months, you will be responsible for leading the crane control system commissioning on site and providing information in order to enable the production of operation, maintenance and parts manuals for use by other engineers, and will investigate and correct on site problems regarding electrical, electronic hardware or software matters.

Successful candidates will demonstrate at least 5 years experience in the development of control software on either Siemens and/or Rockwell PLC’s and be flexible to spend extended periods of time away on site when required. Knowledge of cranes and the automated warehousing and distribution sector would prove to be distinctly advantageous.
