Job Description

Sub Agent/Site Engineer required in Hampshire - Our Client have won a contract with Network Rail to maintain a variety of civil structures & stations within the Hampshire Region.  The types of assets include Bridges, Tunnels, Culverts and station buildings, and the nature of the work is anything from basic maintenance to complete knock down and re build. Typical Projects range from £1k up to £1.5 million.
 
The company are now looking to enhance their team with a Sub Agent/Site Engineer. This individual will be running up to 10 projects at anyone time. With full P&L responsibility for each project, this individual will be running each project through from the design phase through to hand back.
 
The design work is actually done by consultants, so the Sub Agent/Site Engineer will scope out the feasibility of the design, liaising with the Design company to make changes, producing a project plan which will incorporate method statements, risk assessments, H&S and a resource plan. They will then be responsible for procuring all the materials and resources they need to deliver the work, requiring the individual to negotiate with suppliers. They will then be responsible for managing each project on time and to budget. The role will require the individual to be both site based and office based, and to use there strong communications skills when managing and driving their team of site engineers. The role is ideal for someone who likes autonomy, enjoys working to budgets and clearly defined objectives, and likes running projects from start to finish.

Experience of running multiple Civil/Construction projects from within a Highways, Rail, Water or Commercial environment. The individual will be able to manage not only the site delivery of each project but the budgetary aspects as well. The successful candidate will be able to write method statements and risk assessments and be aware of the importance of site safety. The ability to communicate with all levels of individual is important as not only will you be managing teams of Site Engineers and engineers, but you may also deal with Consultants and Senior Managers within clients and suppliers. Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills are also key as the individuals will be negotiating with suppliers. A strong personality, and good communications skills are also important.
