Goodrich Corporation has been selected by Airbus to supply wheels and carbon brakes for all variants of the A350 XWB aircraft.
The selection is expected to generate more than $3bn in revenue for Goodrich over the life of the programme.
The A350 XWB wheels and brake equipment will use Goodrich’s DURACARB carbon heat sink material, which claims to have 35 per cent more brake life than conventional carbon braking materials.
Key elements of the selection process included product capabilities, design technique, and the demonstration of mature, robust programme management processes.
Goodrich is the first supplier selected to provide wheels and brakes for the A350 XWB.
Jack Carmola, president of actuation and landing systems at Goodrich, said: ‘This selection for the Airbus A350 XWB provides a position for Goodrich wheels and brakes on a new widebody aircraft that will serve airlines for decades to come.'
Goodrich is one of Airbus’s largest suppliers and has already provided the Airbus A350 XWB range with nacelle and thrust-reverser systems.
