Dutch select Imtech for sustainable power plants project

Amsterdam – Imtech NV has been selected by the Dutch Province of Limburg to establish two sustainable power plants at the ’Klavertje 4 / Greenport’ site in Venlo and the ’Belvedère’ site in Maastricht.

The power plants, which represent a combined investment of Euro140 million, will generate sustainable electricity equivalent to the needs of 65,000 households in Limburg.

The power plants will feature a unique combination of high-tech energy technologies based on sun, wind, hydroelectric, biomass and fermentation. The combined generation of heat and electricity will deliver power at a high yield and be fully CO2 and NOx neutral, said Imtech.

Imtech is responsible for the entire realisation of the project and the technical maintenance. The project for the implementation phase alone is worth around 140 million euro. Imtech will also be responsible for the long-term energy supply; however, it said, this aspect “requires further elaboration but is expected to be worth tens of millions of euros.”
