HOUSE RULES

Where the website provides a public forum for members of the community to participate in and enjoy, it is important that we all abide by certain “House Rules”.

They are pretty much common-sense but if you breach them we reserve the right to remove any comment made or block you from using the website.

Language

Swearing or blaspheming in any form is unacceptable, no exceptions.

Content

Your posting should be ‘on message’ meaning that it should be related to relevant topics.

All sexual, racist, discriminatory or other content likely to offend any reasonable potential reader in any way is not acceptable.

A post must not in any way promote any practice or activity that breaches any applicable law or is fraudulent, or has any unlawful or fraudulent purpose or effect.

Offensive against another poster or individual

It is fine to mention another poster or individual (whether they are part of the community or not) as long as it is friendly, respectful or neutral in tone. This means you can disagree with their views, but personal comment, abuse or criticism is not acceptable.

Defamation or libel

We may not run comments that we think could be libellous or defamatory and we may take down postings where we think this is the case or where a complaint is made. Our decision is final. Please note that even when a name is not given, if the person can be identified this is equally unacceptable.

Please note that if you do defame someone (including a corporate organisation) proceedings can be brought against you by the individual/organisation. So please check what you say is not defamatory. Courts can require us to reveal your details - you should remember at all times that we will comply with any valid request for the release of details of individuals posting defamatory material for the purposes of identifying those individuals and taking legal action against them. Those details may include IP addresses.

Advertising

You might wish to mention a company/individual favourably. There is a fine and fairly obvious line between reporting a good experience with a company or professional you have used, and blatantly advertising their services. Please note that the forum is not designed for advertising of products or services. In particular, you must not submit unsolicited or unauthorised advertising or promotional material or similar material.

Personal details

We do not recommend that you publish your own personal email address, telephone number or address and where this is noticed we shall delete the information.

Equally you must not include anybody else’s personal email address, telephone number or address without their consent as you could risk breaching the law on Data Protection.

Third party links and images

If you wish to upload images and links to third party content please check the terms and conditions of the website before doing so; particularly with regard to breach of copyright and consent.

We may revise this acceptable use policy at any time by amending this page. You are expected to check this page from time to time to take notice of any changes we make. Some of the provisions contained in this acceptable use policy may also be superseded by provisions or notices published elsewhere on the website.
