The first stage in a £35m investment in the Military Airframes Assembly area at British Aerospace’s plant in Samlesbury, Lancashire for Eurofighter production saw delivery of this 14 tonne 11.5m high Y-axis column last week from Dorries Scharmann. It will support a £7.5m CNC drilling machine which will initially be used to drill 1,000 holes in each Eurofighter front fuselage, to a tolerance of 36 microns. It is one of six precision engineering machines to be installed
