Making Rolls-Royce seaworthy

Rolls-Royce has acquired Connecticut-based naval architecture and engineering firm Seaworthy Systems to broaden its marine support services. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Seaworthy Systems, which has provided expertise to the US Navy and coastguard for more than 30 years, will work with Rolls-Royce to develop its TotalCare service for naval customers. This will include the offer of long-term guaranteed power availability and complete propulsion plant support for ships.

An employer of 58 people, Seaworthy Systems has also worked with the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration (MARAD), Military Sealift Command (MSC) and commercial shipowners.

Seaworthy Systems specialises in areas such as ship design, operation and logistics, on-board equipment maintenance and automated equipment maintenance management software.
