Capturing solutions

Foster Wheeler Energia has signed an agreement with the Fundacion Ciudad de la Energia (CIUDEN) for the technological development of a coal-fired demonstration plant in Spain.

In the initial phase of work, Foster Wheeler will provide engineering services and technical specifications to develop an oxycombustion process and CO2 capture solution. It will also review CIUDEN’s basic design for the combustion island of the facility, which will incorporate pulverised-coal and circulating fluidised-bed (CFB) technology.

The plant is scheduled to enter operations in mid-2009.

CIUDEN is a Spanish foundation set up by the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism and the Ministry of the Environment.
