BAA has awarded Carillion a £300m contract for pre-construction services on the second satellite - an extension to provide more airport facilities - at Heathrow Terminal 5.

The project will commence this month and is scheduled for completion in 2010. Carillion’s contribution will involve design, value management and development of the construction programme, prior to commencement of construction work in spring 2008.

John McDonough, Carillion’s chief executive said: ‘We’re delighted to be working in partnership with BAA on its major investment programme. I believe the breadth of our capabilities and our ability to deliver fully integrated solutions for complex projects was a major factor in our selection for this major project.'

‘At the heart of our approach is a commitment to using innovative ways of working to deliver high quality solutions and improved efficiency to maximise value for money for our customers’.
