Gyrus enhances da Vinci's code

Gyrus Group, a supplier of devices that reduce trauma and complications during surgery, has entered into a development partnership with Intuitive Surgical.

Gyrus Group, a supplier of devices that reduce trauma and complications during surgery, has entered into a development partnership with Intuitive Surgical, the company behind the da Vinci medical robotics system.

Under the deal, Intuitive Surgical will license Gyrus's proprietary Plasma Kinetic (PK) technology for the development of an instrument for the da Vinci system. In return, Gyrus will receive a licence fee and royalties on sales of Endowrist PK Dissecting forceps for robotic applications during da Vinci operation.

Gyrus's PK technology allows surgeons to cut and coagulate across a wide range of tissue types and conditions.
