Hydro wins water contracts

Thames Water has awarded Hydro International two wastewater treatment equipment contracts totalling £3m

Thames Water has awarded Hydro International two wastewater treatment equipment contracts worth a total of £3m as part of a £3bn programme to improve water facilities.

Hydro will supply equipment to improve primary sludge settlement tank operation and removing fine suspended solids as part of the programme, which runs until 2010.

As part of the ongoing upgrade at Beckton sewage treatment works (STW), Barking, Hydro is supplying Zickert longitudinal tank bottom scrapers, scum scrapers and other associated equipment. This is designed to improve primary sludge settlement performance in two of the sixteen existing primary settlement tanks.

At Hogsmill STW in Kingston, as part of a Thames Water AMP4 Alliance contract with Costain, Hydro is installing its DynaDisc Filter technology to improve fine suspended solids removal from treated effluent prior to discharge. DynaDisc Filter units are being supplied with a total maximum flow rate of 4,698 litres per second.
