Imperial Innovations signs contract with NPL

Imperial Innovations Group has been awarded a contract by the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) to aid in the commercialisation of NPL’s research activities.

NPL is the UK’s National Measurement Institute and is recognised internationally for the development and application of the most accurate measurement standards in science and technology.

The signing of the contract follows a three-month trial during which Imperial Innovations reviewed a number of NPL’s projects including technology to scan surface hardness and ultrasound methods to detect pump cavitation. As part of the agreement, Imperial Innovations has appointed Dr Andrew Barber, deputy head of the engineering and technology team at Imperial Innovations as the commercialisation services manager.

Imperial Innovations says it is keen to source technologies from NPL’s portfolio which have the potential to be partnered with technologies in its own portfolio and to create new spin-out companies and licence deals for NPL

‘We are excited to be working in conjunction with Imperial Innovations to extend NPL’s intellectual property offering,’ commented Dr Sally Wilson, NPL’s Commercial Director
