Motoring into Russia

Toyota has begun the construction of a new vehicle manufacturing plant in St. Petersburg's Shushary district in Russia.

Toyota is investing $137 million to build a new automobile manufacturing plant in St. Petersburg's Shushary district in Russia.

Once completed, the plant will be operated by Toyota Motor Manufacturing Russia (TMMR), a Toyota Motor subsidiary that was established in May.

Scheduled to become operational in December 2007, it will mainly manufacture Camry vehicles and will have an annual production capacity of 50,000 units.

Toyota's first Russian manufacturing operation, TMMR will employ about 500 people.
