RWE forms power plant-building wing

German utility group RWE has announced the creation of a company that will be responsible for the construction of power stations across the group’s global operations.
The decision was made as part of the ‘New RWE’ project, which will see the pooling of expertise from the company’s various activities to drive forward future power-station projects.
The new company, known as RWE Technology, will begin operations at the start of next year, with Matthias Hartung as its new chief executive, Dr Michael Fübi as chief technology officer and Dr Ralf Nowack as chief process officer.
Dr Ulrich Jobs, chief operating office of RWE, said: ‘By pooling our considerable expertise in the new-build business in one company, we can improve the technical and economic performance of our huge investment in new-build projects.
‘This also allows us to operate with one face to the supplier.
‘In future, new projects will be based on the same technical standards throughout the RWE Group.
‘That too will simplify lots of processes.’
