Siemens secures orders worth 430 million Euros

Siemens has secured orders worth 430 million Euros to construct a 1000 megawatts (MW) gas turbine power plant for the Kuwait Ministry of Electricity and Water and supply components for a 550-MW power plant in Korea.
Siemens Power Generation (PG) will supply eight gas turbines including the associated generators and the electrical and instrumentation and control equipment for the Az Zour power plant, which will be located around 80 kilometres south of the capital Kuwait City.
According to Siemens, it will be possible to run the plant on either natural gas or oil. After completion in 2005, the plant is to feed power into Kuwaiti interconnected grid.
For the state-owned utility Korea Midland Power (KOMIPO) Siemens will build a natural gas-fired combined-cycle power plant in Incheon City, which is located 40 kilometres west of Seoul.
PG's scope of supply will include two gas turbines, one steam turbine, three electrical generators, two heat-recovery steam generators with auxiliary systems, the low-voltage electrical equipment, and the instrumentation and controls systems. The plant is expected to be operational by mid-2005.
