US Army to command dynamically

The US Army has awarded a contract to General Dynamics C4 Systems to provide support and engineering services for its Command Post of the Future (CPOF) system.
The initial order is worth $18.4m and has the potential to reach $200m over five years.
CPOF, part of the army’s Battle Command System, allows commanders and their staff to jointly plan, prepare, rehearse, execute and assess operations from different locations.
‘The Command Post of the Future gives war fighters a quicker, more accurate understanding of the commander’s intent,’ said Manny Mora, vice-president of battle management for General Dynamics C4 Systems.
One CPOF system can support more than 300 simultaneous users while running on a computer workstation with multiple screens, and more than 1,000 are used by the US military.
