Frazer-Nash wins contract for UK search helicopters
Frazer-Nash has been awarded a contract to support the Department for Transport and the Maritime and Coastguard Agency in their procurement of the future UK Search And Rescue (SAR) Helicopter Service.
According to the engineering consultancy, the UK SAR programme will see civilian service providers delivering the UK’s search-and-rescue capability increasingly from 2015, as the UK Ministry of Defence Sea Kings retire in 2016.
The procurement is being run through a competitive dialogue process that concludes in early 2013, when a preferred bidder will be appointed to deliver the UK SAR Service.
Frazer-Nash will provide specialist technical expertise in helicopter performance, airworthiness and operations, as well as SAR medical equipment and basing infrastructure throughout the whole process.
Initially, Frazer-Nash is supporting the evaluation of tenders and the competitive dialogue and following this, it will support the acceptance trials required to ensure that the service transitions smoothly from the current SAR helicopter capability into the new arrangements.
