Three Scottish businesses win Shell Springboard awards

Three Scottish businesses have won Shell Springboard awards worth a total of £110,000.

Cumbernauld-based Gas Sensing Solutions (GSS) received £40,000 for its high-performance CO2 sensors that help users in the building control market reduce energy costs by up to 20 per cent.

Celtic Renewables from Edinburgh also received £40,000 for its process in generating next-generation biofuels using by-products from the Scottish malt whisky industry, resulting in reduced oil consumption and CO2 emissions.

Supply Design, based in Dunfermline, was awarded £30,000 for its high-efficiency power-conversion technology aimed at markets including renewable energy, data centres and electric vehicles.

Shell Springboard is a Shell-funded UK Social Investment programme, which provides a financial boost to small and medium enterprises with innovative, low-carbon business ideas.
