On the right road?

Current public transport solutions don't meet the needs of the vast majority of the driving population or they wouldn't be driving. If public transport was cheap, flexible and easy to access, I'm sure almost everyone would want to use it. As the current system isn't any of these things, no amount of tweaking will make public transport more popular and road users will not convert. Part of the solution must be a system of roads which allow journey times to be cut, which would reduce pollution.
