With wind, wave and tidal power, we are not exactly talking rocket science here. Siemens is a good example where big companies with the relevant engineering know-how identify a market opportunity, get in and do it. Wave power is something of an odd fish here. So far only little companies and entrepreneurs have shown an interest in it. Given the right government support, I am certain that sooner or later the big boys will want to come out and play. This is the point at which design and development will come along in leaps and bounds.
