Engineering for earthquakes

Comment

Dear Kubilay, You article is noteworthy and provides an important call for engineers to mitigate the effect of seismic activity. At comparatively low cost, energy absorption can be significantly improved for unreinforced and reinforced concrete structures. Large loose concrete fragments that provide lethal secondary damage can be eliminated by the use of certain types of reinforcement. Measures need to be taken to add some ductility for certain structures. If anyone wants further details please contact me. Sincerely Wayne wayne.thomas@co-tropic.co.uk
