"Engineering isn’t seen.. attractive career is simple: the pay isn’t high enough. " or perhaps more appropriately in today's economic climate the pay of other careers is too high - Looking at you overpaid civil servants and managers! The UK has been overpaying itself for way too long, we have already made ourselves uncompetitive in manufacturing. Fortunately engineering has not been as bad, hence engineering being lower in the preferred career rankings, but we could still lose out to overseas with our higher costs.
