The article is right in that we are unlikely to see 'fully autonomous cars on the market within a few years', perhaps if they were the only road users, but they will need to share with the random human out there! So more likely the articles premise that they will be introduced gradually is the correct one. Motorways could be the first fully automated roads, with perhaps one lane dedicated to controlled 'platoons'. Immediately removes the problems of pedestrian (well nearly!).
