Opportunities in engineering consultancies

Comment

I do not deny that there are plenty of opportunities in various sectors. They constantly fail to mention they are in truth for people who have ‘specialist’ experience. At no point in this or any other article that has recently been in the limelight has mentioned is the statistics. Just exactly how many positions have been filled by individuals with 'generalist' backgrounds within industry specific areas such as nuclear or regeneration having come from completely different fields? It is the generalisation of comments by high level individuals who can make the transition from industry A to industry B. However, the low-mid level professional simply does not get that opportunity. How do I know? I am one of them. I also know many individuals who have the same experience in trying to utilise their skill set to migrate into a growing more prosperous industry. The Engineer should capture the people’s opinion on such matters. It will soon be apparent that the marketing spiel is just that. Merely a PR campaign to increase corporate credibility.
