Well, this is welcome news though I take it with a cautious pinch of salt. I used to work at then BAe Space Systems in the 90's before a jaunt with the French Space Agency in French Guiana. Back then, as now, space seemed low on the agenda for the UK government. It's easy to mask this with the specific directives the government has stood by, i.e. projects that bring direct benefit to the UK population as well as focus on select areas of the industry such as those supported by PPARC and EPRSC-funded science missions. I personally feel that the BNSC needs rebuilding and an emphasis on technology transfer, entrepreneurialism and international collaboration is needed, as done by ESA and NASA. Even the Belgian government has tax breaks for space sector start-ups. Good news though, I hope it brings a new dynamic to the sector. Charlie Young
