IET launches scheme to help recently qualified engineers
The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has launched a new scheme designed to help engineers during the early stages of their careers.
According to a statement, the IET Career Advantage scheme is designed to give individuals more direction, helping them form solid foundations for their career progressions through bespoke benefits and resources.
Following the launch of the IET’s Graduate Advantage initiative in 2011, which helps engineering graduates bridge the gap between university and the working world, IET Career Advantage is the second step in a wider three-stage programme (IET Advantage).
According to the IET, it is designed to assist young engineers in their career development and towards achieving professional registration as a chartered or incorporated engineer (CEng/IEng).
Career Advantage is a three-year membership package that is said to provide the tools and resources to help young engineers build the essential skills of professionals, underpinned by the provision of essential engineering intelligence and the support of a worldwide community of peers.
‘The IET is committed to supporting recently qualified engineers with their career development,’ said Michelle Richmond, director of membership and professional development at the IET. ‘The launch of IET Career Advantage will give a range of resources to our members to ensure they have a competitive edge in shaping their future and that of the engineering profession around the world.’
