Fujitsu’s new series of 3.5 inch hard drives feature a four-platter design, spindle speeds of 10K rpm and a storage capacity up to 300 GBytes.
The MAT and MAU series are successors to the company’s 10K rpm MAP and 15K rpm MAS series, respectively.
Through improvements in areal recording density, the MAT series offers 73GBytes, 147GBytes and 300G Gbytes of storage capacity, while the MAU series offers 36GBytes, 73GBytes and 147GBytes.
Both are available with a choice of two interfaces: Ultra320 SCSI (U320) or Fibre Channel 2 (FC2).
The MAT series will be sampled to OEM customers in April and the MAU series will follow in June.
Volume shipments will start shortly thereafter.
