A steely order

JSW Steel, part of the Jindal Conglomerate has awarded Outotec a contract for the construction of a third iron ore sinter plant at JSW Steel’s integrated steelworks at Toranagallu, India.

Under the contract, Germany-based Outotec will provide designs, basic engineering and propriety equipment for a sinter plant with a grate area of 496 square metres.

This year, JSW Steel produced 2.65 million tonnes of steel. However, the additional sinter plant is expected to contribute to its long-term goal of increasing its production capacity to 10 million tonnes by 2010.

Outotec was also the supplier of the two existing sinter plants at JSW’s Toranagallu plant.
