ABB agreement renewal

ABB has renewed an agreement to manage maintenance and improve productivity at several plants at the Werk Bobingen industrial park near Munich, Germany.

The deal, which is worth around $159m (£115m), will see ABB provide performance-based management services for polyester product manufacturers Johns Manville, Performance Fibers, Trevira and Teijin Monofilament.

Under the renewed agreement, ABB will monitor plant processes to improve maintenance and repair operations, in addition to managing power generation and distribution facilities over the next five years.

The initial agreement was signed 10 years ago and renewed in 2003.

The current contract begins in January 2009 and will be one of ABB’s largest full-service agreements.

Veli-Matti Reinikkala, head of ABB’s process automation division, said: ‘ABB’s combination of innovative service solutions, local knowledge and unsurpassed application experience has helped us build an effective relationship with customers at this site.’
