ABB has signed a five-year, full-service contract worth $135 million (US$ 27 million per year) with companies in the Werk Bobingen industrial park near Munich, Germany.
The agreement extends ABB’s current outsourcing contract with a number of customers with production facilities at Bobingen industrial park. The current contract expires in 12 months.
ABB is currently responsible for keeping the factories running, freeing the companies involved to focus exclusively on processes and production.
‘This contract validates ABB’s ability to increase value for customers in very specific industries and processes,’ said Dinesh Paliwal, head of ABB’s Automation Technologies division. ‘We have proved we can help our customers reduce costs over time with value added management services.’
The renewed contract covers maintenance services for local production operations, infrastructure, and power generation and distribution facilities.
ABB will focus on maintenance process improvements in the production plants, as well as maintaining a competitive power generation and distribution system.
