Nottinghamshire-based Icon Polymer has received the GM/RT 2450 quality standard for suppliers to the rail industry, which covers safety critical engineered components.
The company manufactures products for the transport market and through, Silentbloc, which supplies mechanical engineered suspension systems and anti-vibration components for the rail sector. The products are specified for primary and secondary suspension systems on locomotives, high-speed intercity and regional passenger trains, as well as modern light rail systems such as the Eurotram.
Director of sales John Greaves said: ‘With Icon Polymer attaining this level of quality assurance we can now bring a far more comprehensive range of products to our customers, for applications across rolling stock, carriages and infrastructure.’
He added: ‘We work with some of the world’s leading train and rolling stock manufacturers on a wide range of components for both new-build and refurbishment programmes and have an extensive track record in safety-critical components, not only for the rail industry but in other transport-related fields.’
