An innovative machining process being introduced at the technical ceramics specialist Morgan Advanced Ceramics in Rugby will allow the company to make more advanced products.
According to Morgan, the process will enable the manufacture of smaller, thinner and more complex shapes at the same, or even greater, tolerances and levels as current products. It will allow the company to undertake highly efficient machining of advanced materials such as silicon carbide and high-grade aluminas, and could in some cases reduce production time by as much as 50 per cent.
‘Our customers in high tech markets, for example semiconductor, aerospace and medical, are under enormous pressure to deliver innovative products in increasingly short lead times but without compromising on quality or performance,’ said Roy Mason, Morgan Advanced Ceramics’ general manager,
‘We need to help them meet these demands and this new process expands the range of products we can offer and enables faster customer response times.’
First orders using the new process will begin production this month and further investments in the site are expected to follow.
