Ageism must be outlawed

It should be illegal to discriminate against people for employment because of their age, according to three quarters of people questioned in a Gallup survey. The survey was sponsored by recruitment company Eden Brown, whose chief executive Ian Walter said: `There has been much discussion about the merits of legislation and voluntary steps to avoid ageism in the workplace. But there are very many good people available for work who were cast aside during the recession, and are now reading stories of skills shortages, while seeing adverts that do not want people over 40.’
