Airbus acquires ATM services provider Metron Aviation

Aircraft manufacturer Airbus has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire US-based Metron Aviation, a provider of Air Traffic Management (ATM) products and services for the global aviation industry.

Airbus claims this acquisition strengthens its strategy to accelerate and support ATM programmes that will dramatically improve global air transportation capacity, efficiency and environmental sustainability.

The transaction, for which financial terms were not disclosed, is expected to be completed later this year.

Metron Aviation will operate as a US subsidiary of Airbus Americas and its board of directors will be chaired by Allan McArtor, chairman of Airbus Americas and former administrator of the FAA.
