CAE has signed an agreement with Airbus for the purchase of 20 CAE Simfinity M/FTDs (Maintenance/Flight Training Devices), which will be integrated into the Airbus aviation training program.

Airbus will also procure annual update services from CAE. The total value of the devices is nearly C$30 million at list prices.

CAE and Airbus are jointly developing M/FTD lesson plans and training scenarios for both pilot and maintenance training. The M/FTD includes access to Airbus CBT (Computer-based Training) and is available for the Airbus A320, A330 and A340 families of aircraft.

The 3D-device also includes a graphically displayed virtual cockpit, aircraft system schematics and provides free-play and guided practice-to-learn procedures, cockpit scanning flows and crew interactions.

The CAE Simfinity M/FTD systems are planned for deployment in Airbus flight and maintenance training centres located in Toulouse, Miami and Beijing.

The CAE Simfinity M/FTD will also be available at CAE aviation training centres around the world, and for Airbus operators to incorporate into their own training programs.
