Electricity Supply Board(ESB) has awarded
Alstom€275m contract to build a new GT26-based combined cycle power plant in
.
Alstom will construct a 430MW combined cycle power plant in Aghada, Midleton County Cork after receiving the order from ESB Power Generation, a division of ESB.
Under the contract, Alstom will provide all engineering, procurement and construction services for the power plant, which will contain one KA26 single-shaft combined cycle unit.
According to Alstom, the power plant will offer increased efficiency, and therefore help to lower harmful emissions levels.
‘The Aghada power plant will offer ESB a high degree of flexibility and reduce nitrogen oxide and carbon dioxide emissions,’ said Phillippe Joubert, president of Alstom Power Systems.
This is the second GT26-based contract between Alstom and ESB since the construction of the Synergen plant at Ringsend,
