Alstom has today been awarded a contract worth approximately 48 million Euros to supply 20 CITADIS trams to SITRAM, the transport authority of Mulhouse, France.
The contract includes an option for an additional seven trams, which will bring the total contract amount to 64 million Euros if exercised.
The trams, which can carry 230 passengers, will run on the urban TramTrain network currently under construction. This network, with a total length of 19.7 kilometres, comprises two urban tramlines interconnecting in central Mulhouse.
Alstom will build the trams at its site in Aytré, near La Rochelle. Delivery should begin in the first quarter of 2005, and commercial service is scheduled to start on 12 kilometres of the network in the autumn of 2005.
