Esso Exploration Angola has chosen AMEC to provide detailed design, procurement and logistics support services for the Kizomba Satellites project on Block 15, offshore Angola, for an undisclosed sum.
According to AMEC, this latest award is in addition the front-end engineering design work for Kizomba Satellites already completed by the British engineering company.
The new Kizomba Satellites project is the second subsea tie-back to the Kizomba A FPSO (floating production storage and offloading) vessel and the first to Kizomba B FPSO. Both vessels are said to be two of the largest FPSOs in the world.
Production from Clochas and Mavacola Fields will be tied into Kizomba A and B through a looped subsea flowline, enabling production to be routed to either vessel.
Project partner Paragon Angola and AMEC's initial scope of work - conceptual design, pre-FEED and FEED - now moves to the detailed design phase, addressing topsides modifications on both FPSOs, including new production flowlines with receiving, metering and pressure/surge control capabilities.
The scope of work also includes associated procurement, materials management and logistics support.
The project will be executed by Paragon Angola, AMEC's joint venture with Prodiaman in Luanda, with support from AMEC's Houston-based offices.
