AMEC wins refineries contract

The Kuwait National Petroleum Company has awarded AMEC a contract to upgrade three oil refineries.

The Kuwait National Petroleum Company has awarded London-based AMEC a £41.9m contract to carry out upgrades, refurbishment and modifications at Kuwait’s three oil refineries.

The work starts immediately, and involves service management, engineering services including concept and basic design, and process and general engineering covering all refinery activities. It also includes project and construction management services, and technical assistance both inside and outside Kuwait.

This contract will be run from AMEC’s engineering offices in London and AMEC’s in-country Kuwait Engineering Services group (KES) will provide support.

Neil Bruce, Chief Operating Officer for AMEC Natural Resources, said: ‘This project is further evidence of AMEC’s strength in the provision of engineering and project management services in the Middle East and continues our strategy of focussing on global energy and process industries.’
