The ROSE (reflective optical sensing encoder) system has been developed exclusively for use with Pittman Lo-Cog, brush-commutated and ELCOM brushless DC motors.
Rather than using a discrete module for each individual line-count, the new encoder system can achieve multiple line counts using only one module.
Featuring a PC board-based modular design and multi-tracked code discs, the ROSE encoder system enables resolutions of 192, 200, 250, 256, 360, 400, 500 and 512 counts per revolution to be achieved.
The new encoder is an incremental, non-contact rotary-to-digital feedback device translating real-time shaft angle, speed, and direction of rotation to TTL-compatible outputs. Outputs are two-channel, in quadrature, with medium resolution encoding.
Signal conditioning options (all on board) include an RS422 high-speed differential line driver, pull-up resistors and additional filtering capacitors.
