Bombardier Transportation
has won a contract worth approximately €44m from
Angel trainsto supply twelve two-car next generation diesel trains.
The trains are being provided for London Overground Rail Operations Limited (LOROL) for use on the London Overground network and for Chiltern Railways. The units, which will be produced at Bombardier’s Derby plant, will be delivered between 2009 and 2010.
‘This vehicle will be the lightest and greenest modern diesel multiple unit in its class and will provide low risk step changes in technology, providing the financiers and operator with a vehicle which meets the latest legislation in emissions, improves the passenger experience and which is able to optimise operating costs,’ said Stephane Rambaud-Measson, president of Bombardier’s Mainline & Metros Division.
Colin Walton, chairman of Bombardier UK, added: ‘Following so closely after our first order for the next generation ‘Green Trains’, this provides confirmation that this is the product of choice for operators replacing older multiple units.’
