Armour optional

The US Army TACOM-Picatinny, New Jersey, has awarded a $107.7m contract option to a business unit of General Dynamics.

Under the contract, General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products will supply reactive armour production for the Bradley Fighting Vehicle.

According to General Dynamics, units fitted with the armour tiles on the exterior are better able to withstand a direct hit from a range of anti-armour munitions, including the shoulder-fired rocket propelled grenades.

This option is part of a contract initiated in July 2006, and brings the total value to $237m.
