CEIL supply a wide range of alloy powders based on nickel, cobalt and iron to be used in various welding, thermal spray and brazing processes. The new system installed at CEIL’s Tallaght site features two 8m tall, 350kW melters, weighing 250kg each.
The system is the first made by ASL incorporating their ‘anti-satellite’ technology, which stops smaller particles sticking to metal powder grains, which can inhibit flow and increase packing volume. ASL’s solution avoids the excessive oxygen levels caused by methods using a gas atomised spray in water or the less spherical shape which some other dry gas atomisers produce.
ASL’s delivery included training for CEIL operators and a long running-in of the atomiser, to cope with over 50 different alloys.
