Assystem signs Altair deal

Altair Engineering, a global technology and services provider, has secured a deal with the UK Gas Turbine Division of engineering consultancy, Assystem, for the use of its Altair HyperWorks portfolio.

The HyperWorks system is a simulation package that allows companies to produce models and data management solutions for linear, non-linear, fluid-structure interaction and multi-body dynamics applications.

Bristol-based Assystem is expected to make particular use of Altair’s HyperMesh system, which provides advanced finite element analysis (FEA) meshing solution of the product, to work alongside existing analysis software that will support service and consultancy projects within the gas turbine industry.

Phil Baker, projects and analysis manager at Assystem, said: ‘HyperMesh has a very good reputation in the industry, so we trained our engineers at Altair and then evaluated HyperMesh on some of our projects. HyperMesh is very robust, offers flexible geometry manipulation, is 64-bit compatible and has an open platform to be used with any solver our customers request us to work with.’

Maurice Linscott, regional director at Altair Engineering, said: ‘We are very pleased to see Assystem implementing HyperMesh into its development processes. Our tools offer service companies the flexibility they need because they provide an open architecture, offer quick return times and a good return on investment. I expect to see more and more service and consultancy companies in the UK turning to HyperWorks thanks to the business benefits the product suite offers.’
