Atkins set to design cycle path for Portugal coastlines

Atkins has won a national competition to design a major dedicated cycle path along Portugal’s Alentjo and Algarve coastlines. The path will cost €400,000 (£321,000) to construct and is expected to be completed in December 2013.

The design concept is based on a central axis to connect a number of existing cycle paths, with the potential for future links to the Algarve coastal cycle route and the European cycle path network Eurovelo.

Services being provided by Atkins for Sociedade Polis Sudoeste include architecture, engineering, lighting and graphic design, and archaeology.
